Hello, I’m Alison Gassert, a passionate and driven Advertising & PR major with a minor in Anthropology, set to graduate from Susquehanna University in May of 2025.

Originally from a small town in Eastern Pennsylvania, I grew up alongside my parents and younger sister, where I developed a love for both sports and storytelling. I attended Hamburg Area High School, where I played three sports during my four years, taking on leadership roles and honing my teamwork and communication skills. Beyond athletics, early on I explored my creative side by designing my senior yearbook and creating content for various school clubs, discovering my passion for effective communication and design.
During my time at Susquehanna University, I embraced a wide array of opportunities that allowed me to expand my skills. As a member of the women’s rugby team, I served as the match secretary for a year, gaining valuable leadership experience in a collaborative environment. Additionally, I’ve worked at the Blough-Weis Library since my first day as a freshman, which has given me the opportunity to engage with the campus community and build managerial skills.

I’ve also had the privilege of interning as a student events planner at the library, where I developed a deeper understanding of logistics and community engagement. My time studying abroad in Cyprus was a truly transformative experience, immersing myself in the rich Cypriot culture, tasting some of the best food of my life, and swimming in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. I also took part in a collaborative class with 25 international students, where we planned an event for the University of Nicosia’s student body, working alongside students from countries like France, Austria, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Greece.
Through my studies, I have gained a strong foundation in storytelling and strategic communication, which is why I chose to major in Advertising & PR. My goal is to learn how to effectively craft and convey stories that resonate with diverse audiences, making sure every message is heard in the way it’s intended.
I am eager to continue learning and growing in the field, and I look forward to the opportunities that await me after graduation.

It’s been a joy to see Alison Gassert evolve over her four years at Susquehanna, from an entry-level student position as circulation desk worker to a trusted student manager at the Blough-Weis Library, where I’ve had the pleasure of supervising her. Alison’s deep understanding of the library’s role in supporting students, developed over four solid years on the job, truly sets her apart. Her dependability, straightforward communication, and proactive responsiveness to student needs have been invaluable.

As a manager overseeing night and weekend shifts during hours when the library operates entirely without full-time professional staff, Alison consistently demonstrated impeccable judgment. Whether coordinating with IT and public safety to resolve evening and weekend issues or managing complex customer service situations, Alison’s professionalism and ability to operate independently with significant responsibility have been impressive.
Alison’s efforts to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for students during evening hours reflect her outstanding leadership qualities. Her dedication to creating a positive atmosphere for everyone is truly commendable. Any organization would be fortunate to have such a reliable, communicative, and growth-oriented professional on their team.
Director, Blough-Weis Library
Alison is an intelligent and motivated individual. In my class on luxury brand management, her grasp of the subject was excellent and her comments in class were always thoughtful and interesting. Her work on the brand Goyard for her final project was top-notch. Her team ending up winning the “people’s choice” award for the best brand presentation at the end of the semester. I am fully confident that she will quickly become a top professional in her field.
