As a college student, there is nothing more relatable than the challenge of experimenting with food. If you’re like me, the food offered here on campus does more for your IBS than anything else. With that being said, I have had to attempt to cook or more accurately, put different foods together and call it a meal. From all my failed attempts and a few successes, here are some of my discoveries compiled in a list of my favorite flavor pairings.
- Watermelon and Lime (successfully ate a 16.5 lb. watermelon with this method)
- Mint and Chocolate
- Balsamic and Feta (bougie, I know)
- Just Chik-fil-a Sauce (goes with everything)
- Tzatziki and Chicken (currently loving all Greek-inspired food)
- Blue Cheese and Candied Walnuts
- Garlic and Tomatoes
- Potato Chips and Chocolate
- Coffee and Oxygen (Lorelai Gilmore is my muse)
- Peanut Butter and Chocolate
- Eggs and Feta
- Sun-dried Tomatoes and Pesto (highly recommend homemade for both)
- Pita and Hummus
From all of my trials and errors, I’ve settled on one recipe (of my own creation) that I could literally eat every day and still be satisfied.

Fancy Egg on Toast
Ingredients:
- 2 pieces of toast
- your mom’s homemade sun-dried tomatoes
- 1 egg
- cherry tomatoes (ideally a variety of sizes and colors)
- your mom’s homemade pesto
- mayo
- feta
- mozzarella
- olive oil
- garlic
- salt
- lemon
Directions:
- 1. Put toast in toaster oven
- 2. Put a little olive oil in pan and put on low heat
- 3. Add garlic to the oiled pan
- 4. Add crumbled feta and mozzarella to the pan, and let cook for about 2 minutes
- 5. Make a hole in the center of the cooking cheese and put cracked egg in
- 6. Half your cherry tomatoes and put in pan on top of the cooking cheese and egg
- 7. Put lid over pot and let cook until slight film over yoke of the egg
- 8. While waiting, take finished toast and slather on equal parts mayo and pesto
- 9. Take finished egg, cheese, and tomato concoction, and put on top of the toast
- 10. Add salt and lemon to taste preferences
